Improving color stability requires comprehensive improvements in raw material selection, additive application, process optimization, and environmental control.

UV radiation is a major factor causing plastic fading. UV rays decompose pigment molecules, causing the color to lighten or fade, especially noticeable outdoors or in brightly lit kitchen environments. Therefore, selecting pigments with high lightfastness is crucial. Inorganic pigments, such as metal oxides and salts, have good thermal stability and strong lightfastness, making them suitable for plastic products exposed to sunlight for extended periods. If organic pigments are used, varieties with high lightfastness should be selected, ensuring good compatibility with resins to prevent fading due to photochemical reactions. Furthermore, adding light stabilizers such as UV absorbers to the raw materials can effectively absorb or scatter UV rays, reducing their damage to pigment molecules and extending color retention time.

Temperature oxidation is also a significant cause of plastic fading. In high-temperature environments, pigments and resins in plastics are prone to oxidation, leading to color changes. Therefore, pigments and resins with good thermal stability must be selected. Inorganic pigments generally have high thermal stability, while organic pigments require varieties with strong heat resistance. During processing, temperature and time must be strictly controlled to avoid pigment decomposition or resin degradation due to overheating. Simultaneously, adding antioxidants can inhibit oxidation reactions and reduce the possibility of color changes. Antioxidants can capture free radicals, interrupting the oxidation chain reaction, thereby protecting the molecular structure of pigments and resins from damage.

The impact of humidity changes on the color stability of plastics cannot be ignored. In high-humidity environments, moisture in plastics may cause uneven pigment dispersion, resulting in color spots or fading. Therefore, resins and pigments with low water absorption must be selected, and the raw materials must be thoroughly dried. During processing, ambient humidity must be controlled to prevent the raw materials from absorbing moisture. Furthermore, adding desiccant can absorb moisture in the plastic, reducing the impact of humidity on color stability. Desiccant is usually an inorganic salt or organic polymer compound that effectively absorbs moisture and maintains a dry environment inside the plastic.

The compatibility between pigments and resins directly affects color stability. Poor compatibility between pigments and resins can lead to uneven pigment dispersion, resulting in color spots or fading. Therefore, it is necessary to select pigments with good resin compatibility and improve pigment dispersibility through surface treatment or the addition of dispersants. Surface treatment can alter the physicochemical properties of the pigment surface, increasing its affinity with the resin; dispersants can reduce the attraction between pigment particles, promoting uniform dispersion in the resin. Furthermore, optimizing the processing technology, such as improving the efficiency of mixing equipment and adjusting injection molding temperature and pressure, also helps improve pigment dispersibility and color stability.

Besides optimizing raw materials and processes, controlling the usage environment also has a significant impact on color stability. Avoid prolonged exposure of the pepper seasoning spice jar to strong light, especially outdoors or in direct sunlight in kitchen environments. For long-term storage, choose a cool, dry place and avoid contact with high-temperature objects. Additionally, regularly cleaning the jar surface to prevent stains and chemical corrosion also helps maintain color stability. When cleaning, use a mild detergent and a soft cloth to wipe it. Avoid using hard objects or corrosive cleaners to prevent scratching the surface of the can or damaging the pigment layer.
